On the right, we have clowns twisting balloons...a huge hit!
Andriy, Vitya, Me, and Yura.
Oh, the fun camp games.
My two favorite boys from Perechin.
Vova (far right) was baptized at our Uzhgorod camp.
Left: we had our annual film festival starring the kids. and on the right, we had a girls program about Identity in Christ.
Vasil'kiv Graduation '08
On the left are me with some of my boys, and on the right, the graduating class at the Vasil'kiv Trade School, 2008.
Above, we have the students looking at the yearbooks that we had made up for them. Some of the students were in charge of taking all the pictures, and we had a mini-course on design, which resulted in this yearbook.
On the left, we have Roma, who I knocked down on the ground the very first time I met him...we were playing soccer. On the right, we have Big Oleksandr who was one of the sweethearts for our team.
On the top left, we have Tanya, on the top right, Alison, and on the bottom left, Anya. Alison is, of course, my roommate. Tanya and Anya I met during the job seminars.
And for those of you who know me, I'm actually wearing heels. I was significantly taller. It was great!
Back in Kyiv
I've had a great time moving up back to Kyiv. I hit the ground running with the job seminars at Vasil'kiv. The result being that 8 kids consistently came to the seminars, and the students were very active participants.
I was in a skit demonstrating how not to act in an interview (i was the interviewer) and taught about things you can do to keep your job and not just lose it.
I also got to see my Sergei. I gave him a Manchester United Jersey for his birthday.
Chaslivtsi Graduation
We got to the bus stop too late and too early to take the bus we wanted. so we waited and waited. But at least we made it to the graduation ceremony on time! It was outdoor, and soooo, so hot in the sun! I can't imagine how the students were able to stand there, boys in their suits and girls in their dresses! I've never seen the girls look more lovely. Especially the one with the pink dress. she often dresses in very baggy clothes and looks very surely. But today, she was just complimented so much because she looked so lovely, that I think she might start wearing clothes that make her look more like a girl, more often!
Domboki Graduation Day.
Sylvi and I got up early, bought bus tickets, got out at the right stop, and then walked 3.5 kilometers to arrive late to the graduation ceremony. So we just got led around by a lot of our kids...the last time we get to see them. That evening, they got to start a two day adventure on a train to get to the sea, where they will spend their summer.
Some More Pictures
the top three pictures are from the gypsy village. one of the churches in that village was celebrating their 8th year as a church. so there was a big celebration.
the next two are from domboki. if you look at me while i'm speaking, you'll see that i have a kid in my arms. i'm not headlocking her, but i was trying to prevent her from running around screaming, which is quite a normal thing. not your typical classroom behavior.
and the last one is one of the girls at Chaslivtsi who was at our Esther weekend last year.
